On Monday, we went to Batam, Indonesia. To be honest, I was not excited all since I went there before. I expected this: Old houses, dirty roads etc. (But I went to a resort, so it was very different) However, what I had not experienced was the joy of talking to the Batam HKI kids. It truly enlightened me. Their faces with smiles plastered all over, their enthusiasm was incomprehensible. Learning to them was a privilege, not a dread. To me, learning something new would be a burden. The mindset: Aaaah a new topic meant that the diversity of exam questions would be greater=DIE! This was definitely not the correct mindset.
I was glad that the Batam kids really did enjoy the time we spent with them. We laughed, played and learnt. The learning process was not only one-way, Batam kids learning English from us. However, I felt that we learnt much more from them. Their simple-mindedness, their optimistic mindsets and much more. I really do love them. Therefore, I made a promise to myself to return to Batam and teach them. Fortunately, I was given a chance to visit them again in June or December, but this time not with RGS.
It is unusual for me to write these kind of posts but there must be a certain extent of importance of this experience did I write it in my blog:) ILOVETHOSEKIDSSOMUCH. Thanks for that experience! I will come back with many many sweets hahaha. God bless.
